Green Plan
At Rielly Lumber we believe that sustainable forest practices are the key to our future. Every forest company must contribute in some way to health of our resources. In order to do our part, Rielly Lumber has become PEFC and QFC certified with the governing bodies of these agencies and we accept the responsibilities that come with certification.
While we do not own or harvest standing timber in the province of British Columbia , we deal with and increasing number of certified primary logging companies. We welcome the trend towards more accountability in forest harvesting and we have prepared our company to be ahead of the curve
for our customers. In the future more and more companies will be specifying certified lumber products for all of the right reasons and we are positioned to deliver those products.
Advocacies of solid wood
Why is Western Red Cedar the premier Green option? There are a couple of very good reasons. Firstly, wood is the world's most plentiful renewable resource. It grows back even quicker that the first cycle if it is properly replanted. Add in recyclable, biodegradable and sustainable and we feel that solid wood in general and Western Red Cedar particularly provide the perfect green option for building. Because a growing forest absorbs carbon and releases clear oxygen it just makes a lot of sense to efficiently harvest and promote the growth of new forests.
